Maharashtra is known as a land of great people and heroes. Many hardworking minds have impressioned their great deeds in every fields. Kolhapur town become or scientified by the inauguration of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. We get to see the beautiful and captivating landscape which is situated in the range of Sahyadri means Karveer nagari at the west side. A great man born in the arms of Sahyadri. Late.Khamkar Guruji worked in the field of Education, Social work, Co-operative, Agriculture, Arts and Sports who had become self-sufficient in these fields. Let the Khamkar Guruji in the pre-independence period, He worked for remote hilly villages like Bhogawati – Tulashi – Dhamani rural area. He worked for backward area in the Sahyadri Vallies. Guruji’s remarkable work and field like education. Khamkar Guruji did the work of removing griverence on the very remote and backward and dying human mind. With this incomparable work of Guruji, he was born in the arm of Sahyadri. I have to how to this hero of Sahyadri who was become immortal by his own deeds.
"Great Work Done By Khamkar Guruji"
The westside of Kolhapur district, Radhanagari, Panhala, Gaganbawada and Karveer tahsils were part of rural, hilly and backward areas. There was no facility for education in these areas. Ambaji Baburao Khamkar Guruji completed his education upto 7th standard. There was no proper facility of education in these backward areas. So khamkar guruji founded the educational institute, “Sahyadri Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Dhamod” with help of some sensitive people. This institute was founded in 1951. Initially, “Mahatma Gandhi Vidhyarthi Vastigruh” was started in 1950 which was helpful for the backward class as well as for shepherd’s children (Dhangar).
The backward class student did not get permission of feeling the water on the public wells. So, they got permission under the scheme ‘Ek Gaun, Ek Panvatha’ which was created by Khamkar Guruji. The programme of eating together was undertaken for general and backward class students.
Many 7th passed students were collected together by khamkar Guruji and gave them the opportunity of teaching to the backward and hilly area villages. The number of schools was 38 which were started by Khamkar guruji. Then these all schools and appointed teachers were undertaken by Zilla-Parishad. These schools are run by Zill-Parishad nowadays.
After the progress of education in this rural area, khamkar guruji concentrated on Agriculture. He collected farmers and started, ‘Vitthal Sanyukta Sheti Sanstha’ in 1968. Such communal Agriculture society gave the benefit for the farmers. After passing some span, the Tulashi Dam was prepared at Dhamod. This was got the reservoir of water, but many farmers left their lands for this dam and displaced another place. Those dharangrasth farmers did not get water for their land. So Khamkar Guruji founded ‘londha-Khora panipurvatha Sanstha’ which was helpful for 460-acre land and 450 farmers as members who were displaced and dharangrasth. This irrigation scheme was founded in 1981 with the cooperation of the district bank. The thousands of farmers got prosperity. It was ‘the first irrigation scheme in West Maharashtra’ which was lifting water on Tulashi Dam.
Khamkar Guruji gave a great contribution to education and agriculture, then he founded, ‘Shree. Ambaji Baburao Khamkar (Guruji) Gruhnirman Sanstha’ at Kolhapur which was great gift for our people in Kolhapur city. Nearly one hundred twenty-five people got land of their possession. Khamkar Guruji gave a contribution and changed the face of the area by starting educational, social and agricultural institutions.
The economic condition of Khamkar Guruji was very poor. After all, he had fond of wrestling and other games in his school life. He made his body very strong with the help of exercise. He had played a wrestling match at Khasbag Maidan in his initial part as a teacher. He was a great teacher as well as in his teaching career, he gave the opportunities of services and employments to his students in many fields.
His spouse Parvati Ambaji Khamkar (Akka) gave valuable support in his social work.
Khamkar guruji’s elder brothers Nana and Maruti gave a well shape to Guruji’s life.
Khamkar Guruji gave his heritage of social to his adopted son Shri.Hindurao Khamkar. He accepts this responsibility and built own buildings of all branches of education. He grew all these institutions. Many new branches opened by Hindurao Khamkar. The Khamkar family is running and growing the great heritage of late. Khamkar Guruji in the form of the following branches-

After the death of Khamkar Guruji, he gave his heritage of social to his adopted son Shri.Hindurao Khamkar.The great heritage of Late.Khamkar Guruji running and growing by Shri.Hindurao Khamkar in all the better way with following branches-

After Khamkar Guruji, his ideal life, great thoughts and culture was considered by his grandsons Shri Jaysing Hindurao Khamkar & Shri Subhash Hindurao Khamkar. He wanted to transfer this small plant of Sahyadri family/Pariwar into a huge banyan tree. So, he established this foundation is going forward due to inspiration and guidance of Shri Hindurao Nana Khamkar who is chairman of Sahyadri Shikshan Prasarak Mandal and great co-operation of entire teachers of Sahyadri. Many programmes were arranged in twenty years after establishment of this foundation. The programmes arranged for Khamkar Guruji’s birth anniversary and death anniversary. Many representatives, CM, MP,MLA,great person and officers have presented for these programmes.
The various programms are neatly arranged per year after death of Khamkar Guruji. He was famous under his guidance. The successful planning of wresting was- arranged for four to five years initially. The wresting competition was become noteworthy of participating of district, state, national and international level wrestlers. The sensational atmosphere was created due to wrestling. The state level competitions arranged on death anniversary of Khamkar Guruji like Shooting Boll, Cricket, Kabaddi, Marathon, Basketball and Chess. This competition was arranged successfully. All these competitions completed with the co-operation of entire teachers of Sahyadri. Giving inspiration to the competition, on occasion of Guruji’s death Anniversary, the state level easy competition, quest competition, elocution competition, drawing competition and cultural programs are arranged by Sahyadri family and Ambaji Baburao Khamkar Guruji Foundation.
Programs For Blind, Handicap and Dumb people
The whole area was economically backward, there was no proper source of food. The common people were cursed their luck and were avoided their physical problems. All these problems were considered by the officers of this foundation. Our foundation undertook a great valuable program for poor and needy people. The camps were free of cost. Our foundation helped to the blind, handicap and dumb people through such type of health camps.

So, our foundation become abode of successful person. Honoring of achieving various skills at the level of District, State and national. Many people are honored by our foundation.
Programs of Children Science Congress and
Cultural programs
The Children Science Congress and Cultural programs were arranged for developing student curiosity. All these programs were held by our foundation. Many students of various school presented their challenging projects in the programs. The Ballad singing program was held by our institution. Khamkar Guruji’s respect and ideal are grown through such type program.
Lectures
The various lecture arranged for student, youngster, women and farmers. Agricultural debates, program against drug addiction, personality development programs, inspirational lectures for women are arranged by foundation. Many great poets and writers presented for these programs.
Planning of State Level “Granth Mahotsav” and Session
Sahyadri family and Foundation arranged Granth Mohotsav for creating passion through the student. The state level Economics subject session program was arranged by our foundation. The entire Economics subject teachers through state were participated in this program. Many teachers presented their research thesis in this session.
NSS Camp for People evoking
Many programs arranged per year at different villages or place in the form of N.S.S camp with help of junior college and foundation. Many evoking and entertaining programs were undertaken by foundation.
The social awareness was created by student and youngsters of various villages. The tree-plantation, cleanliness drive, addiction drive, eradication of superstitions, Agricultural new techniques were arranged by N.S.S camp and Foundation. All these programs were completed with the help of Grampanchayat.

The Sahyadri teachers are source of Economy of foundation. Entire teachers, non-teaching staff always help in the form of money through their payment in the form of donation to foundation.
